I bought this as a replacement for a replacement radio I bought for my Volkswagen MK5 Jetta. I was scared about buying this because of a fear of buying aftermarket cheap parts. I bought this simply for the touchscreen ability and the Bluetooth audio connection. This unit is cheap, and for a good reason. A lot of the words and phrases were obviously made by someone not naturally English, so be prepared. It's an LCD screen but it's sunk in to a bezel, so it's not flat to the actual screen. In the box, you get the unit itself, wiring harnesses, a SATNAV antenna box, a canbus, and other wires need for things like the backup camera. If you're wondering how the installation went, it went poorly. Getting my dashboard panels disassembled was easy, but reading the instructions to figure out how to wire this up was near impossible.I read through so many reviews and videos but there was no clear distinction on whether or not to use the canbus. I should have installed it when I did it, because I woke up to go to work this morning with a dead car battery. After installing the canbus, disconnecting the red and orange wires that meet together with a black clip, and jump starting my battery, everything worked allright. As you can see, the unit fits great inside of my dashboard. However, the panel needed to be trimmed to get it to fit. Points off for that.Bluetooth connection is great. It's almost instant. There's a 1 second lag time between the selection of music and the actual playing of the song, but that is not a complaint. This thing is basically an Android tablet. You can download anything you need. I'm still trying to figure out what I want. It's nice telling people I can change the wallpaper on my radio.Overall, if you need a touchscreen and want something cool to show off for relatively cheap, this is it. 150 dollars for a radio and a camera is pretty good.If I can do it properly, you can do it too, but be warned: it's cheap for a reason. The customer service is not cheap. I reached out to them and they relatively quickly helped my issues. 4 stars.I purchased this and installed it in my 2009 Jetta, the reason I bought it was because it simply had no reviews, which really intrigued me, I knew I was a bit of a ginuea pig so the big question really was "what were they going to send me?"Overall, for the price of the unit, the fit and finish is pretty good, I did notice that the "Radio" button is printed off center, and I absolutely cannot unsee it, otherwise everything fits nicely and matches as you would expect. The trim around the knobs are actually chrome in color, not silver. I purchased a set of similar style HVAC knobs on Amazon to match since the factory black knobs were out of place. How does it work? Actually very well, boot time is quick and if you are just looking for radio or bluetooth function, these features pair up quickly and play in a relatively intuitive user interface. The big reason why I bought this though was the wireless CarPlay function, the first observation I had was that this radio does not have a 5Ghz Wifi radio, which will limit wireless CarPlay audio/video quality a bit, and make connection speed a bit slow. The other thing I will point out, on initial setup, this unit does not go to CarPlay/Android Auto, you need to launch the Z-Link app every time you get in your car to make this feature work. This can be fixed by going into the factory settings and setting the unit to launch the z-link app on start up. I set mine up this way and within ~30 seconds my CarPlay is linked running, its *a little bit* slow, but the automation aspect makes it really nice.My biggest gripe is the display, the touch screen is actually relatively responsive, but the brightness of the panel is lackluster. Its completely fine in the evening/at night/early morning. But on a bright sunny day it can be a bit hard to see, especially if you have polarized sunglasses on. The resolution being 1024x600 isn't a deal breaker, and at this display size its kind of hard to notice, but the brightness really could use improvement. Honestly the display panel looks identical to the first generation Amazon Prime 7 inch tablet.First off, the complaints about not being able to change from KM's to MPH's is just stupid. You have an instrument cluster for that! Secondly, everything on my unit functions as it should. No issues with Bluetooth dropping or error messages. The seller even emailed me clear pics of the red wire to disconnect to keep the stereo from not shutting off and draining my battery. I had to find this out the hard way with my 2009 install. My only two complaints are the lack of a designated volume Knob (which i knew it didn't have when i bought it) and the the volume up and down buttons should be reversed (up further from you and down closer to you). Otherwise, for a $147.00 head unit, it's pretty nice. I had a very similar unit in my 2009 Vw Eos for almost 5 years, with no issues and it worked perfectly. This unit has a much nicer look, brighter screen and compliments the interior of my 2013 Vw Eos Sport beautifully. I purchased this because my factory stereo was not compatible with the aftermarket backup camera I bought ($159.00 on Amazon - pic included). I'm happily surprised that everything functions perfectly, and that the backup camera function is nice. Full screen is great, crystal clear and the parking lines move with the steering wheel. The only complaint in swapping this one for the factory stereo is with sound quality. You seem to loose a little bass in comparison to the factory stereo, but that's nothing a small powered subwoofer can't fix. Overall, you get what you paid for. If you're expecting Rolls Royce or Bentley quality at Hyundai prices, you're going to be disappointed. I'd definitely recommend this to replace or upgrade the basic Vw stereo head unit.GoodWhen my media unit died on my VW and I received a $3,500 quote from the Dealer, my heart sunk. I found this unit on Amazon and thought to give it a try. It works extremely well as a replacement unit. The Canbus adapter allows you to retain many VW functions and steering controls. I was actually quite surprised. AFTER YOU INSTALL, make sure you disconnect the batteries and reconnect to "wake up" the amp or you will have no sound. The factory back up camera does not work with this unit so you have to install the camera provided. It took me just over an hour to install it and had to tap into the right rear reverse lamp wires (there is also a reverse 12V signal on the main connector pin 5 that you can use). I tried a camera decoder to retain the factory camera, it did not work.I connected it to Wifi Hotspot from my phone which I can toggle on and off on my phone when i need data on my media centre. Google maps works flawlessly with it when connected to data. You can also download maps for offline use. It is android based so you can download any apps you want from the app store. Here are the things that no longer work on VW Passat after install:- It does not have built in Sirius so you have to buy a sirius receiver and then adapt the aux to rca and plug it in via the audio in RCAs provided. Then you use the AVin mode to listen to that stream (tested with a tablet but i am sure theory holds true for all media devices)- You should no longer connect your phone to the car bluetooth and instead, just the media unit. Your dash cluster will say no phone connected.- Voice activation button no longer works. Instead, this button now is the mute button (which is quite handy when going through a drive thru). Plus, you can just use Siri or Hey Google to do your voice activated commands on your phone.- There is no AM radio- FM radio has a bit of static so you may want to install a booster. (Radio installer sur une Volkwagen Jetta TSI 2014)This could very well be the best $150 I have ever spent.I know the software in products like these can become unreliable over time, so I cannot judge its longevity. However, so far this product has surpassed any expectations I had. First off, the screen size was larger than I thought. It is also very responsive, and the programs within it are pleasantly capable. It has the google play store to boot, so you can add additional applications as you would please. The Bluetooth is not very finicky and my phone automatically connects. I even downloaded Spotify to easily stream the music from my phone.I initially left out the GPS because I did not think it would be worth my time to mount. I was wrong. It is extremely accurate and will be a great companion on long road trips. The screen is very easy to install in terms of plugging in the cords and mounting it back onto the dash. I did have troubles at first in figuring out how to get it to turn off when I took the keys out. I reached out and got a response within 3 hours. Their instructions made it an easy fix. I did learn that you can shut the screen off by swiping down from the top of the screen (as you would with an iPhone to get into the additional functions). I plan on mounting the backup camera this weekend, which will not be hard. I have not tapped into the reverse lights, but the screen already can detect when I am going into reverse. This will make it an easy install. The last thing I will mention is that I ordered the screen on a Sunday, and it arrived the following Tuesday. This is during a global pandemic, so their ability to do that is also very impressive.Anyways, we will see how this product stands the test of time, but so far this is easily a 5/5 experience.Would of given a 5 star but issues with turning on and off with the car key. If there a electrical drawing or info to have this function please let me know. Have to turn off and on on the radio. Got feedback from Mia from Podofo and my installer didn't install the Canbus Box but connected the A and B plug. Disconnected the A and B connector and no more issues. The radio comes on and off when key is pulled is in or out. So bottom line either the Canbus Box is connected you can't connect A and B connector or the opposite A and B connect and no Canbus Box. Great unit for the cost very happyFirst off, the unit they sent me was obviously used, not new. The mounting frame was scratched from being in/out of a previous vehicle, and someone else's Google account information was already set up in it.The FM radio does not work at all. Sound quality over bluetooth is meh (it jitters and drops out from time to time). The interface is super slow, jittery, and freezes all the time (cannot handle anything more than Bluetooth streaming at once). It also does not fit as advertised unless you use a saw to modify parts of the vehicle's interior trim frame (2008 VW rabbit - this unit has corners where a rounded bezel is needed). It's better than nothing, but you should really consider something else. It's cheap, but still a waste of money.
